Hello fashionistas, and welcome to the Oscars Celeb ensemble blog! Every year, I eagerly anticipate the Oscars because I get to see my favorite stars receive awards for their exceptional talents and performances. Who’s excited? (I am). So today we’ll discuss the Oscars 2023: All stunning white ensembles on the red carpet.
First things first: what are the Oscars?
The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are global film industry awards for artistic and technical achievement. Many (like me) consider the awards to be the most prestigious and significant in the American entertainment industry. Sunday held the 95th annual edition of the Academy Awards with different stars winning different awards.
However, when it comes to the red carpet of the Oscars, (whoosh), it’s like watching the MET gala in the artistic industry. (Okay, too much but you get it). What I’m trying to say is that the Oscars are more than just the awards. It took place on March 12th, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
This brings me to the question: who likes white? I do. Since white is my favorite color, we will examine all the white ensembles that celebrities and stars wore at the Oscars awards.
Oscars 2023: Celebrity stunning white ensembles
Now, celebs over time have brought their A-game when it comes to stepping out on the red carpet. However, as we saw at this year’s Oscars, celebs brought their A-game stunning white outfits. It seemed like the ladies went on a hunt at bridal collections because I spotted a lot of gowns that are too beautiful not to make a statement (if you get what I mean, lol). I honestly don’t know how celebs go so long in white dresses at a very long event. It reminds me of when I got tired of my white dress and silver heels at a party that I just went home (lmao).
Okay, enough about me. Here are all the celebs who wore white ensembles:
1. Ariana DeBose
The Oscar winner for best supporting actress (West Side Story) wore a custom Versace gown allowing for a two-slit train. The actress donned a white Atelier Versace gown with a plunging neckline, sharp shoulders, and thigh-high slit.
Her dress also had an all-over silver embellishment designed in a geometric mirror-like beading. Her stunning white ensemble was completed with silver earrings, silver heels, and an omega watch.
2. Emily Blunt
The beautiful actress rocked the Oscars red carpet wearing a white off-shoulder Valentino gown. The guest presenter for the “best picture” form-fitting dress was paired with a pearl-encrusted white clutch with silver appliqué.
I honestly just love how simple her dress looks. It totally gives me inspiration for my next dinner dress. Thanks, Emily (wink).
The Nigerian singer/songwriter caused a stir with her magnificent ensemble. The rockstar stunned on the red carpet wearing a lush white gown designed by Lever Couture. However, it was her headpiece that turned heads by actually being the biggest hood on the carpet.
Her one-shoulder, thigh-high slitted dress was the talk of the Oscars as it sported a large hood coming right from the shoulder. The singer’s dress was complimented with silver heels and silver bracelets.
4. Michelle Yeoh
Yeoh stunned on the red carpet wearing a white feathery Dior Couture gown. The winner of the best actress award (everything everywhere all at once) paired her statement gown with a headband and earrings consisting of Moussaieff diamonds. She just inspired me when she became the first female Asian to win best actress. I’m proud of you Yeoh.
Her outfit, however, complimented her beautiful speech, giving us an elegant vibe from the winner.
Okay, let me just say that I love Michelle Yeoh, especially from her role in the movie “Witcher, blood origin”. She just blew my mind and my fashion senses with her ensemble and sweet words on stage.
5. Zoe Saldana
Zoe’s nightgown-looking dress made heads turn on the red carpet. The actress stunned us by wearing a white Fendi couture gown that is actually from the Fendi bridal line. Her dress consisted of thin straps, a fishnet corset overlay, and strips of lace across its skirt.
The nominated actress for her role in Avatar complemented her dress with a sustainable vintage Cartier necklace and a pair of dangling earrings.
6. Mindy Kaling
The actress and later presenter walked the red carpet wearing a custom white Vera Wang gown. The corset structured gown featured visible boning, a peplum waist, and long opera-style gloves. The look was both elegant and sensational in every way.
However, the actress doesn’t stop there! No, she also gave us the same dress in black as she presented the award for the best original score. She completed her look with drop earrings that reached her collarbone.
7. Sophia Carson
The actress looked like a modern-day Cinderella in her drop-waist Giambattista Valli gown featuring a dramatic skirt. She completed her look with Chopard earrings consisting of both emeralds and diamonds.
She actually gave me a modern-day princess chic vibe. It’s like you don’t have to do too much to bring out the pop of beauty in you. You just have to get the right dress, the right style, and the right heart (woo, look at me being all sobby and sappy, lol).
8. Michelle Williams
The actress looked stunning in a Chanel couture bridal-inspired white gown with intricate embellishments and a sheer cape. She wore a custom white Chanel Haute Couture Cadi and tulle embroidered bustier dress embellished with silver and white sequins and pearls.
Her dress also came with a white satin bow on the back and a white embroidered silk tulle cape with a jeweled button. However, it was Tiffany’s “Victoria” necklace in platinum with diamonds that were used to anchor the intricate and detailed cape. What’s more, the ever-stylish star also wore a platinum and diamond “Victoria” tennis bracelet and a diamond and platinum “Schlumberger” ring.
There was so much going on in this dress that you would just think it looked so simple from afar but nope, definitely not simple.
9. David Byrne
The clever songwriter/singer rocked the red carpet wearing an all-white ensemble. He sported a white suit with a white turtle neck and complimented white pants and shoes.
However, the stylish singer didn’t just dazzle us on the carpet but also during his performance where he sang the original song “This is life” from the movie everything everywhere all at once. What’s more, it was during his performance that he was spotted wearing hot dog fingers.
10. Paul Mescal
Paul is an Irish actor for those who don’t know but he is also a very stylish fashionista. His ensemble at the Oscars was one that couldn’t be passed aside. He looked like a dashing prince charming with his accessories.
Okay, so Mescal sported a sharp double-breasted white blazer in a savor of satin fabric. He also wore a red rose and the Faune et Flore de Cartier High Jewelry brooch on his left shoulder, as well as a butterfly bow tie.
However, Paul’s pants were flared in a straight-leg fit, as fashion stylist Felicity Kay chose a thickly cuffed hem to accentuate the silhouette. He completed his look with Cartier Juste un Clou earrings in yellow gold and the Cartier Privé Tank Chinoise watch with a leather strap. See, I told you he was a stylish fashionista (lol)
11. Harry Shum Jr.
The actor, known for his role in the movie “Everything Everywhere All at Once“, made heads turn in his very unusual ensemble. He sported a stunning Adeam Tuxedo ensemble which consisted of a long white jacket with navy blue trim, paired with navy slacks and a navy silk obi belt.
Okay, it was the obi belt that got me looking. I mean, how does he rock such a belt on a jacket and still make it look good?
12. Rooney Mara
Rooney’s red carpet ensemble featured a tulle-heavy, off-the-shoulder gown designed by Alexander McQueen. She complimented her dress with two choker necklaces and a pair of silver stilettos.
Her outfit looked like a white wrap dress that was tied at the back, making her look elegant. “Wow, this reminds me of Alaadin’s outfits” was my first thought when I saw her dress (lol). Cute.
When we talk about jaw-dropping ensembles, our actors and celebs never cease to tick all those boxes. All the white ensemble moments on the red carpet at the 2023 Oscars were designed by top designers, making it the most awaited and prestigious event in the film and artistic industry. Now, let me go look for my designer outfit for the birthday party I gotta attend tomorrow (lol).
