Introduction

There are two main types of bloggers: those who blog for fun and those who blog professionally. This course is for people who want to learn the basics of blogging.

If you think blogging is easy or a get-rich-quick scheme, then this course is not for you. Earning an income as blogger requires hard work, consistency, and time. In other words, it needs to be treated as a job.

 Getting started what you need

Paper and pen

You should have a pad to write down your ideas and possibly record your blogs if you do not have a computer. This way you always have a backup should the unthinkable happen and your blogs are lost before publication.

Computer, Tablet or phone

If you plan to produce quality content, it is best to have a computer or tablet. You can get a used one for very little money. If you just cannot get a laptop or tablet it is ok as it is possible to write a blog on Our Fashion Passion with a phone. We do suggest keeping a backup on paper in this case.

Grammarly

Grammarly is a free extension for Google chrome. It will help you write with good grammar and produce a higher quality blog. It will also help your Search Engine Optimization (SEO). As search engines do tend to rank posts with good grammar above those that do not have it.

Keyword Surfer

Keyword Surfer is another free extension for Google chrome. It will help you identify what words people enter into Google when searching for a topic. You will need this extension when you are making final decisions on topics and the title of your blogs.

Google

Top bloggers spend a good amount of time doing research on their topic, so using Google will enable you to accomplish this.

Note- In the example we narrow down the keyword to 720 instead of the 50 thousand the others get because the reality of ranking for a keyword with 50 thousand monthly searches is almost zero. You have a very good chance of ranking for a keyword with 750 searches. And better still once you rank for that keyword, you have a better chance of actually ranking for the higher traffic keyword in the future. We have one blogger who ranks for a keyword with 100 thousand monthly searches, but the blog first ranked for a similar one with 2 thousand. Now he makes good money every month just for that one blog.
