Blak Kid Clothing is under the management of Obakeng Madube, a young and passionate entrepreneur from Otse in Botswana. Divari on the other hand, is under the management of and has been founded by, Obakeng’s friend and business associate Dintle Pardo Ntshonono. These are local brands in Botswana, Blak Kid for both the gents and the ladies, and the other one (Divari), especially for the ladies. The concept behind these two brands is amazing. The meaning behind Blak Kid Clothing is self-explanatory (it’s a brand that tells African history in the form of art, bad or good). Divari means “I am a Diva, I am strong, I am slaying, I am powerful, it’s Divari no lie”.
These two brands have the potential of making it internationally. They are already making waves in the local market, are in high demand, and are supported across Africa as well. Blak Kid Clothing is being supported by international acts like Master Kg from South Africa, and other media platforms in Zimbabwe and Zambia as well as here in Botswana.
When Madube started off with Blak Kid Clothing, with the courage that he had, he established a small team of his own to help him carry out his dream and vision to the market. Such a passionate young man who believes in himself and his journey. The road has been bumpy of course, with covid-19 coming in and disturbing businesses, he stood his ground and marketed the brand across Botswana and the African market. With having established such a powerful foundation for such a powerful brand, just this year 2022 he helped his friend Ntshonono launch Divari.
This is another brand taking the ladies by storm. It is beautiful and has a beautiful concept to it. As for my journey with Obakeng, I have always believed in him and I see him as a brother and a friend. My company Fashion Passion Promotions is still in talks with Obakeng in terms of coming up with pop-stalls for his brands. And later this year hopefully our project will be in motion. This gentleman is really a visionary and he is set for greatness indeed.
